Xu (Cora)
My name is Cora Wei and I came to USC to complete year 11 and 12 after
doing an English language course. I am now studying Commerce at Melbourne
University. I really enjoyed studying at USC because you get all the support
you need. I still remember all the problems I had when I first came to
Australia but teachers help you with everything so I simply seek help
when I need it. I have to say that the teachers at USC are wonderful and
most importantly they are very friendly and kind. USC offers us a university
style of teaching due to the partnership with The University of Adelaide.
That is why I am in a much better position with my tertiary studies now.
If you want to gain success USC is an outstanding place to go. |
DENG,
Chu Wei (Wilber)
Hi, This is Wilber. I have just graduated from USC and would like to
say something about my life there. During the last two years many things
have happened, which have changed my life forever. During year 11, I often
felt that I had a lot of spare time because the timetable was so different
from what I was used to in China. I really needed to learn how to have
a good time management plan and sometimes I was a really bad boy when
it came to study. However, after getting a report, which was not so good
I had a sudden awakening and tried to follow teacher advice. I started
doing some real work, as well as playing basketball, learning to dance
and working in a local restaurant. Most importantly I have started making
friends with local students. My life is now very fulfilled in all areas
and I thank USC. |
ZHENG,
Wen Jun (Helen)
When I was 16 years old, my parents gave me the opportunity to study in
Australia. I felt very proud to be a student of USC. Today, I am studying
for a commerce degree at Melbourne University.
I will never forget my first day. I was very excited and at the same
time afraid to communicate with Australian students. I found the school
environment very different to my old school in China. Students really
do experience the university style of learning here. After my English
class I chose to study year 11 chemistry and economics and discovered
I was the only international student in the class. At the beginning I
was very lonely and afraid. When I wanted to give up my teacher encouraged
me until things improved.
Year 12 was my biggest challenge at USC. The workload was difficult to
manage but the competitive environment helped me stay strong. All my teachers
were patient and even provided special tutorials for international students
on particular topics. This was especially helpful. Students are also good
at helping each other to achieve their best. I will never forget my experience
at USC and I want to say thank you to all of my teachers and feel very
lucky to have been their student. |
WU,
Jing Biao (David) I am 19 years old and come from Beijing,
China. My first Australian destination was actually Melbourne but I found
Melbourne to be too busy and much too noisy so I came to Adelaide. Because
I gained a high mark for my language course in China I went directly into
year 11. This was a shock because I was unable to understand the teacher
or to talk to my Aussie class makes. I joined the intensive English class
for some months and then felt ‘on fire’ again. When I did
not do well in year 11, it was teachers who encouraged me to keep trying
and often gave up their private time to help me with my work.
Year 12 was a very busy time and I was forced to work much harder and
study much more diligently. The lecture and tutorial system prepared me
well for university study and I am now studying commerce and want to become
an accountant. I will always remember USC teachers and students and love
you guys. |

CHEN,
Si Yi (Maya)
My two years of high school life at USC have enriched both my knowledge
and my life. USC has seen me grow from a little girl lost in the city.
At that time I could hardly communicate in front of people. However, with
the help of staff and classmates at USC I have gained more and more confidence
and become a lot more mature.
USC’s partnership with The University of Adelaide has benefited
students a lot. The combination of lectures and tutorials, the ease of
accessing the university facilities, the flexible timetable and the great
location have helped many students to manage school and part time work.
The entire teaching team is experienced, enlightened and friendly. My
favourite people were my maths teacher, who organized lessons during the
holidays and learned Chinese to get to know his Chinese students better.
The student services coordinator, the friendliest person I have ever met,
reduced our homesickness after our arrival and our Chinese teacher, who
is a wise woman from Taiwan. She helps all of us international students
to adjust to a different learning environment.
My study at USC will influence my whole life and although I am leaving
Adelaide to study elsewhere I will never forget my time there.

ZHANG,
Qing (Laven)
I am a graduate of the 2007 class and came to this school two years ago.
Ever since, USC is where I belong in this country, which is thousands
of miles away from my home.
During my two years I have been deeply impressed by the energy and dedication
of every staff member I have ever had contact with. They have always been
there for me, doing their utmost to help and support me whenever I was
in difficultly.
USC is AWESOME. I was amazed by its unique lifestyle and enjoyed its
close proximity to everything (cos it IS in the heart of the city). I
also liked the fact that we could have access to The University of Adelaide
at all times, which gave me the privilege of experiencing what “uni
life” felt like.
Most importantly, I made best friends here – my mentors, teachers
and classmates. These people have accompanied me throughout these two
years; years filled with memories of joy and happiness that will last
forever.
I loved USC from the moment I came here till the very end – it
has been a wonderful journey. |
