H1N1 Influenza (Human Swine Flu)
Action to be taken as of 28th July 2009
Students are no longer asked to stay in home isolation for a period of seven days after visiting high prevalence areas. However, we continue to ask students to stay in home isolation if they develop flu-like symptoms. A key recommended practice in the workplace is for any staff member or student who becomes unwell with flu-like symptoms (fever and a cough, sore throat, blocked or runny nose, headache, tiredness or body aches) to be provided with a face mask and arrangements made for the person to be in isolation until they can leave the school to seek medical attention or go home. There is no need for healthy persons to wear a mask. The fact sheets explain appropriate practices for use of the masks.
If in doubt please contact the school (8303 4988). For more information about H1N1 Influenza contact the ‘Swine Flu Hotline’ on 180 2007 or visit www.flu.sa.gov.au The best way to limit the spread of all influenza viruses is to practice good personal hygiene, such as washing your hands regularly and covering your nose and mouth with a disposable tissue when you cough and sneeze.
